Disgrace

You know, I don't know a lot about the French team, but they were always one I liked more than disliked on the indifference scale. Whatever comments were made about their attitude, I ignored. I didn't mind Zidane and could respect him for his talent.

But after that last move? Why? Even just setting aside discussions of fair vs dirty play, real falls vs dives, why would you do that to yourself? You're considered one of the great soccer players. You're about to retire and your final game is a World Cup final (during which your team is, at that point, showing the most promise to win). Why would you so disgrace yourself, in your final moments of glory, and pull a such a stunt? So blatant, so harsh. One single moment exhibiting no class cancelling out years of hard work and glory.

Disgraceful.
